Zierikzee is a lovely destination for an afternoon of shopping. In the historic town centre, you will find a variety of shops, charming streets and cosy squares. Middelburg is also well worth a visit, with a wide range of shops and a beautiful historic city centre. In Vlissingen, you can combine shopping with a walk along the boulevard and views of the sea. The charming town of Veere is a little smaller, but perfect for those who want to combine shopping with culture, historic monuments and a relaxing drink on a terrace.

At the Watersnoodmuseum in Ouwerkerk, you can discover the story of the 1953 Flood Disaster and its consequences for Zeeland and the Netherlands. The museum is housed in four large concrete caissons that were used to close the final breach in the dyke at Ouwerkerk.
Through personal stories, photographs, films and historical objects, you get an impression of the night of the disaster, the victims and the relief efforts. You can also learn how Zeeland was rebuilt after the flood and how the Delta Works have contributed to flood protection. Finally, the museum looks towards the future: how do we live with water today, and how do we protect ourselves from flooding?

At Museum Goemanszorg in Dreischor, you can step back in time and discover what farm life on Schouwen-Duiveland was like in the past. The museum is housed in a historic farm and shows how people lived, worked and went about their daily lives in the Zeeland countryside.
In the authentically furnished farmhouse, you can see a traditional box bed, kitchen, cellar and raised room. The barn and farmyard feature old agricultural tools and equipment. There is also information about the history of the island, agriculture, flax and madder, as well as the traditional Zeeland draft horse. The museum regularly hosts temporary exhibitions and demonstrations.
